I have created a Monster!!!
I have about had it with my wife. She bonked two more today. A 27# buck Chinook and a 7# clipped Silver hen. Guess what I caught?
Some of you may say "Good for her". Not me, she has tagged seven of the last nine fish in our boat. Maybe I am having a low self image day or something. Anyone else have this problem? How do you deal with it? Extensive psycho therapy?

Re: I have created a Monster!!!
After she has it out, Switch rods on her. Use any excuse to try her pole.... Or you could put a little Deet on her rig (Zip for both of you might be easier to swallow at this point!).

I'm not sharing any more of my spots. You're on your own pal. All I have to say is, "DOWN IN FRONT!".

Re: I have created a Monster!!!
Is it actually her pole that the fish hit, or do you just let her grab either pole if it goes off?

Re: I have created a Monster!!!
You're looking at this all wrong brshooter. You should be taking the lemons and making lemonade! You could be using it as an excuse to buy more fishing equipment. Just tell her "Honey, I'm going out to buy you a couple more fishing rods, some lures, a new boat" whatever, and she'll let you do it because she's catching fish. Of course, you'll be using the stuff too, but now you've got more gear and she won't object.

Re: I have created a Monster!!!
You are certainly not the only one suffering from this problem. My wife consistently puts the first and usually the largest fish in the boat. She has had a banner year so far. Here are some highlights.
Steelheading on the Rogue: A 34" buck in 4 minutes off the ramp, 3 more by the end of the day. (I got skunked)
Sturgeon below Bonneville: 57.5 incher within 15 minutes of anchoring up. (I got skunked)
Salmon last weekend at Buoy 10: 28# Chinook in the first 10 minutes plus 2 hatchery and 4 wild Silvers. (I got 3 small hatchery Silvers)
I guess the good news is that we always put meat in the fridge when she is in the boat.
Often times my friends make sure I bring her so they know at least one of us will catch something.

Re: I have created a Monster!!!
All I can say is you go girl! All kidding aside it sounds like you have a keeper in your boat, Brshooter. I can only think of a few dozen female fishers that I know. I can count the lucky or sucessful ones on one hand. (That's for you RW).
I've recently had this same experience. One of my fishing partners likes to fish and is pretty lucky. She will dive right into baiting crab traps, grabbing a buckled rod, netting fish, launching or driving the boat, bonking fish even cleaning fish. The best part is that she is immune to the sea sick and loves the Ocean. The rougher the better.
I can take a whole lot of watching someone like that outfish me given the alternatives that I am so used to. Count your blessings, you are a lucky man! Stand back, drink your adult beverage and be the envy of every guy on the river.

Re: I have created a Monster!!!
brshooter,
You are one lucky man! I can't even get my wife to go. Everytime I want to buy something new its "don't you already have some of those?" Just set back and count your blessings and keep buying more fishing stuff.
