Default Washington's Jake Locker

Prayers for Jake.
I'm a Beaver, but nobody wants to see someone get hurt like that.

I hope he's ok. Clearly a very talented athlete.

I turned it off at halftime. The Beavs in front but what made me sick was the hit on Locker. Totally unnecessary! Why isn't helmet to helmet penalized by ejection in college? It is in the Pros and has been talked about all week. The only thing worse than the person who delivers it is the coach who teaches it! It is total cheapshot BS and has no place in sports. I'd rather see a legwhip than a hat to hat.

The announcers were practically gloating over the delivery showing it over and over.

Just hope and pray that Locker is OK and will return.

I certainly hope he is okay. Hate to see that kind of thing happen.
And Hook...that was not a cheap shot. What I saw was a clean football play with a very bad ending. And please, do you truly believe Coach Mike Reily teaches that sort of thing ?!?

I share the same concern.. but why can't they talk about the injury or how he's doing. Anyone?

I hope he's ok. I know is part of the game but I hate to see it happen to any player.:frown:

It was just announced that Jake was released from Good Sam in Corvallis and is heading back to Reser to support his Huskies. Glad to hear he'll be ok!

Go Beavs!

Sorry, but that was NOT an intentional helmet to helmet hit on Locker. If it was even questionable, the announcers would have called it, especially since they were Husky friendly.

Did I say Reilly? I've been around football a long time and yes I believe it was a cheap shot. If a player is stopped and you come in head first, hands at your side, leave your feet , what can you expect? Why do the pros ban it?

What would you call spearing?

What I heard this AM was they ban helmet to helmet contact. I suppose that if you hit someone's back and break it that's ok. BTW, spearing is leading with your head period. The purpose is to protect the person who is doing the spearing. It came about because people were breaking their necks.

Player stopped??? You need to take another look. No way is that a cheap shot and no way he was stopped. You play until the whistle blows or someone will get hurt.

Not even close to a cheap shot. I dont like to see a player from any team get hurt and I believe in rules to stop that from happening. It is football a heavy, hard contact sport. Sitting in your lazyboy watching it in slow motion it is easy to pick a play apart, but in real time things happen fast and people are going to get hurt.

The officiating was just plain terrible in that game.. Numorous holding calls UNcalled, the play near the end where he was CLEARLY down, ejections, etc..

Just plain horrible. I don't think those officials will be doin many games in the near future.

Btw, i'm not a Beaver nor a Duck fan...

Big12 for me.

the helmet contact was completely incidental, if the Beavs made an illegal hit, you'd hear it from me first. (GO DUCKS)

If you look again, Jake turned into the hit with his helmet. The inevitable happened. The defender running full tilt to hit the runner got the best of it. Jake should have ran out of bounds instead of getting earholed.

Cheapshot? No way. Unforunate hit? Yes. Cheapshots were allowed elsewhere in the game. Thank God he's just sore today.

Refs were horrible. Plain and simple. That game should have not been that close.

Glad Locker is fine. He clearly lowered his helmet to take the hit. NO WAY THAT WAS A CHEAP SHOT! If you want to talk about cheap shots, how about when they ripped Bernard's helmet off and punched him in the face before half....no call on that! This was the worst job by the officials since the Zeros-Oklahoma game. The difference here is that the RIGHT team won in this game.
That being said, game is over, Beavs won. On to Wazzu!

GO BEAVS!!!!!!!!!!!

Beaver Nation,

I am an avid Dwags Fan, and I agree, it wasn't an illegal hit...

Jake was just going for some extra yards and was the recepient of an unintentional hit to the helmet. Jake is a hard nosed player that runs til the whistle blows and doesn't prance out of bounds or cowardly slides like many QB's.

It is certainly good to see that the Dwags are on the right track to resurrect their once prominent football program...

Thanks to Hedges and New- Weasel, the program had been placed in the toilet for sometime....

Can't wait to get back to the glory days and reignite the rivalry with the Ducks...

Being a NW native, I do hope the Ducks have an opportunity to play in the Big Game......

Ok, Upon further review the play stands as called on the field. After all we all know the refs never make mistakes don't we Ducks? I called one of my Husky buddies and he even thought it was OK although unnecessary hit. And just to add a note. I ended my football career in 1963 playing for the Air Force Warhawks inservice team when a disgruntled offensive lineman split my helmet with his foot (perfectly legal then) and I spent two days in the hospital with a concussion. So I'm not exactly sitting on the couch calling plays. Maybe that is why I'm the way I am.

Just glad he's OK.

He dropped his head and shoulder. When a QB does that, it's his fault he got hit. People love him because he will take a hit, ya can't complain if you want him to take the hit.

Its football its a brutal game to play, I am just glad the QB came out ok. The officials were bad but that seems to be a common trait for pac 10 officials.
