Default Willamette Falls Fish Counts - Stopped.......

Just called 503-657-2000 ext. 399. The recording says Willamette Falls Fish Counts will not be resumed until at least Feb 21. due to staff shortage.

Yup, all they do is watch TV.

If you've been fishing above the falls at all or have been paying attention you should already know when the fish are there. No one looks for counts on the coastal rivers. Non-clipped steelhead should be readily available. Springers are still a few weeks away.

We all know the timing of the run up the Willamette, but I'm dying to see that first springer number, which could happen while no one counts.

Can you imagine fishing somewhere above the falls, in any river, and you hook a springer, and there are zero over the falls? Can you imagine the look on your face? This is fun to think about.

Yep, Jennie, you better hook up that cam you used at the sportsman show, it's getting dusty, and needs to count fish.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helvetica">Shellfish fees are supposed to be directed at shellfish management I believe, so they better not use them for that.

Hoosier Daddy,

I've heard the shellfish fees will only go into the General Fund, not directly to shellfish management.
