The mighty Sea Swans best day yet
I can firmly say that without exaggeration that we put over 50 fish beside the boat today in the ocean and at the bouy. We(The great and mighty Capin'Dan and the lowly Bait Boy) fished with Dot, Ryan And Pat.(cant forget Papa John)
Left before first light and returned by 1:00 with a Full limit of 4 fish per person. We had to start a second cooler once the main cooler was full and had tails sticking out of both ends. We ended up with 24 beautiful fish

Can it get any better? If it can I sure hope I'm there when it happens. That 50 fish is a little conservative itn't it?

Re: The mighty Sea Swans best day yet
Congrats on the fish guys, but for other fisherman out there I wouldn't get caught out in the ocean with more than 2 coho per person or inside with any chinook. Either way it would be some hefty fines and they'll board you in both places. Pulling into the dock with that combo would be bad as well if the staters at the dock check you. Not trying to ruffle any feathers, just prevent someone here from having to shell out some unecessary cash in the future.

Dan,
Nice Fishing Dan BUT! I'm glad you did not get checked because you would have been heavily fined. You can catch 2 coho in the ocean and then come back in the river and catch 2 more for a total of 4. If you catch 2 coho in the river and then go in the ocean, if you catch any more you will be over the ocean limit of 2 fish

Re: The mighty Sea Swans best day yet
Thanks guys but I dont recall seeing that any where except for the Chinook being the only show stopper. You may be right but the fish checker didn't tell us any different and the Cops weren't Chasing after us. so....

Re: The mighty Sea Swans best day yet
I would have to agree with the others congrats on all of the fish. But if you would have done things the other way you would have been closer to legal, if you had fished the ocean for silvers first then stopped on the way back in and finished up for two more each except if you have a chinook in the box you cant stop on the way in. Just some info to help others,Things are starting to get a bit confusing with the regs and limits in dif. areas. I wouldnt count on the fish checkers knowing the rules but hte state cops might.

Re: The mighty Sea Swans best day yet
The Coast Guard and OSP were out at the 10 Buoy last Sunday, checking for that very thing. They would intercept the Ocean folks as they were headed in. They were also writing tickets/giving warnings for fishing beyond the Buoy 10. ODFW is very clear that you can not have more than the posession limit where your fishing. Not trying to preach, I know most aren't trying to break any rules and a ticket is an expensive lesson.

Re: The mighty Sea Swans best day yet
The fish checkers have no power to stop you only to report it in most cases.this is from the Oregon news updates.
"Ocean anglers returning to ports in the Columbia river may not stop and fish in the Buoy 10 fishery if they have a chinook salmon in possession."
So by having the the king on the punch card from the ocean you were not allowed the extra fish from buoy 10.I don't think that the order you fish for them matters it would be easy to fish buoy 10 and catch a king then shag a$$ to the ocean and catch the rest of your limit.I don't think that you did this but think of all the people that would.
