Default Oversized Sturgeon

Today I had the pleasure of fishing with MoJetPilot for oversized sturgeon up by Bonneville. We managed to hook-up on 6 fish and landed 5 oversized. The fish ranged from 7ft to 10ft (these are good fair estimates) and we were off the water by 11 AM!

Now if I could just keep my arms from shaking from all of the abuse!

Once again, I would like to thank MoJetPilot for the excellent trip!

Yeah. Bringing it back to the top.

Salmon fishing is hot, but if you want one of these, this is the best time of year to get out and do it.

All right, "Dispelling Myths" and "How did Flathead get his name"?

Fished yesterday with "wtbarrong", try to figure that moniker out RT. Took Ty and his buddy Chris out for the big gators. Chris is a fly fisherman and couldn't quite grasp the concept of quote: fishing with a telephone pole and trans Atlantic cable... that is until we made him take the first fish. After we got the fish to the boat and unhooked, you should have seen the look on Chris' face. Maybe he understands that 96lb leader is a 2x tippet when fishing for gators! I guess it all depends on your prespective. Though we didn't get the 19 footer, we came up with a new measurement standard. "Hands you can fit in the mouth"! We got a couple of 1 handers and a couple of 2 handers that could almost go three. Great trip though, we long-lined released one that almost spooled a Penn 330, before we could cut loose and chase it down. One of the only days I've had recently that the bite shut down just because we ran out of bait. Ty and Chris are a couple of great guys.

RT, as far as "Flathead's" moniker goes, it's true the top of his head is flat. We both worked with a local based rescue unit at the time and I always told him that his head was so flat you could land a helicopter on it. The lake in Montana just added the fuel to the fire. What can I say? He's just a victim of circumstance.

Let us know if you ever have room for one more on your trips...especially if you have room for one newby with no gear or know-how, but who is VERY willing to learn quickly and cover his expenses.

I dunno CT. I just don't want to see a "39 foot sturgeon caught" thread starting.

Fact of the matter is, I'm getting pressure from the wife to bring home sumptin' I can put in the freezer. I'm fresh out of shad too. If you really want to go, like bad, shoot me an email. We may be able to do some horse trading.

Yeee Hawgs!

Unfortunately, its true. I can't go near an airport. Without the helicopters circling my head. Its a good thing MoJet Driver is a good
friend. By the way who let the sixth fish get away?

I'd dig going out for sturgeon some time, but am hosed for the next two weekends travelling.

Not sure what kind of horses I have for trading with you...I understand what you mean about wanting to stock the freezers. I just see the pics of those monster fish (especially the 19 footers!) and think it would be fun to catch one (mostly for the photo).

Nah, MoJet I was exiled to Texas once for 4 years. As far as I could tell there ain't nothing cool about Texas. By the way Mexico won the war we got Texas.

Sounds like you had a pretty good trip yesterday.
