Default Hot bite! church hole.

I know its usually always good there, but holy crap. Went out with Dan Ponciano. Got in at 6, had no bite til' an hour after the tide changed, then it was absolutely nutso. In two hours we had 12 in the boat (three of us), had released 3 nookies, and two native silvers. It broke my heart with one of them, it weighed just over 18 pounds!! Aw well.

I have never seen a river so alive. The sun was actually out, and the fish were running HARD! Bait fish were floppin all over and it literally sounded like heavy rain there were so many. Silvers and chinooks floppin all over the place, lines bent everywhere around us. We were planning to get out to the bouy at some point, but just couldnt get out of the church hole because of the consistant bite. It just didnt slow down. Seemed most the time there were two poles bent. Great day!

Just outside the ramp and across the water from Hammond. There is a church up on the hill there.

Has Dan gotten any better at releasing those nates or does he still just toss them overboard to flaot away? Watched him releases a nice silver on tues that way. Fish was still floating down river last time I saw it, he never even made an attempt to revive it.

All natives released by Dan today are presently swimming happily up stream. I have nothing but good things to say about him. Seemed to run a pretty good show. He cussed a chinook pretty good that didnt want to give up the hook! But he still took care of it.

Dan has it absolute dialed in. (I didn't watch him release ANY - I figured he had it dialed in so well he didn't hook any finned ones!)

Are you willing to desc ribe in detail the set-up you were using - delta divers and colored flashers, eh? Green and/or red? Anchovies/whole herring/cut herring ??

hmmmm? Just curious, you know ... for the log books ...

Sure We used divers (two rigs were red, one silver) with plugged herring and 5' of leader from the diver. No flashers/dodgers. We were back at the ramp before most, but I think it was location rather than rig.
