anyone ever see a Steiger boat?
I think the proper name is a Steiger Craft. I was doing some surfng on the net and came across this line of boats.
It sure looks like it could be a great Tuna boat. Anyone have any experience with them??
I like the 23' Miami. w/ bracket... Tons of deck space...
Their website says they have a dealer in Chinook...

They do have a dealership in Chinook. I'm not real salty but they do look like a great boat to me. Go check them out.

Chinook Marine is the dealer. Dale, the owner, is a pretty good sort and has some pretty sound tech's working for him. The last time I drove by he had several various models in stock. You might just get lucky and he has that model on hand. Good Luck.

Stopped in the Chinook place for some parts, looks like a nice affordable trailerable big water boat. Nice set ups for fishing. Drool, drool, slobber.

I'm not sure but I think two maybe three years. I'm not sure about the model you listed, but some are pretty wide (9.5' ?). Trailering them can be a bit more work than usual.

Re: anyone ever see a Steiger boat?
I saw one at the dock at Willamette Park just the other day. the owner was working on it there and doing a little cleaning. It was a 26 ft with cabin. I complimented him on having a very salty looking boat. He said it was powered with a Volvo 350 ci with outdrive, 325 hp. It is pretty beamy, I can't remember if he said it was 10 or 11 ft, but definitely wider than my 26 ft boat at 8'6" beam. He said it is heavy and the hull is very strong. The owner said he has not been out for tuna in it yet, but you could tell this would be an excellent boat for offshore fishing.

There are better boats for the money. IMHO for what it is worth.

Re: anyone ever see a Steiger boat?
They were trying to sell this boat for $42k on Ebay last year.

I am sure you could get it for around $40k or less.

Re: anyone ever see a Steiger boat?
There was a 26' Chesapeake at the Chinook dealer. It was in the boat show 2 yrs ago. I have stopped and looked at it when going razor clamming.
The price keeps dropping. Now around $75,000. Diesel with volvo duoprop. The cockpit is 9' and change wide by 11' fwd to aft. 200 gl fishbox under the pilothouse and a v berth. Everything you want and nothing you don't.
I would add a waist high rail around the cockpit.

Like what? I didn't think they were overly priced or anything.
When I lived in Jersey I saw a lot of them. I liked them. As it turned out a guy I worked with had a relative that worked at the factory. He said they were well built boats. I know my friend used to do a lot of boating so would guess he spoke from experience but then again who knows right? One thing about the boats is that they seem very spartan. Guys who own them love them though.
One other thing about Steiger Craft is they sell a lot of them to commercial fisherman. So would think they must be pretty tough and seaworthy.

Re: anyone ever see a Steiger boat?
Nice looking boats and fairly well built. Very popular out here in the great lakes area. They seem to really be targeted to the fisherman, like Parker, they don't have a ton of amenities for fancy stuff in them. Priced reasonably. They are a little lighter than a Parker of equivilant size but not significantly. I would have no qualms about getting one but the admiral doesn't like them so well and that makes it go off the list!

Im all ears... Im looking for a salty boat in the 21-24 class. $40-60k.
maybe I should start a thread and see what people think would fit the bill??
On a side note, I called the Steiger dealer in Chinook. they didnt have a 23' Miami, But he has a left over 05' 23'Chesapeke Pilot House with a Chevy i/o and Volvo Duoprop for $45k. But, I really like the outboard setup on an offshore bracket for that boat..

Re: anyone ever see a Steiger boat?
I've done some window shopping on the Steiger, really popular on east coast as mentioned before, first saw them at Seattle Boat Show a couple of years back, seems the "new price" are more reasonable than when I first looked at them.
They are spartan to a degree but a much better finished vessel than Proline or Arima ... not the glitz of a Striper or Grady. Just a solid fishing vessel. Olybird and I are in same boat as far as size and pricing, and the desire for outboards on a bracket - - - and I need a few comforts for my wife, which is fine with me as no one better to be out with. Somewhere out there, there is a new boat for me!!!
