Default Show me your fishing animal-- Cat, or dog!

I was asked to post this to the main board and ask for other pets that fish with you. I love topics like this!

So, for newer ifishers, meet Molly the fishing cat! I've posted these before, but they are always popular.

I'm lucky to have Molly Mae.

This is Molly the "danger" fishing cat.
She has no fear of water, and loves to fish with me!

This is Molly trying to get out to the boat, where we are anchored. She's mad. She ended up making a swim for it. We had to pull anchor and go get her.
Ya shoulda heard her cry. She was just meowwwwwwwwwwwing!

She was MUCH happier in the boat!
She can walk that anchor rope, like none other! We always have to check before pulling anchor and moving.

But... she kinda likes bank maggots like me, best.
It's a hassle to cast. I'm afraid I'm going to heave her to the other bank.
See how she watches the bobber?
FISH ON!

Still... she has her boat days and her bank days, just like me.

I love Mollers the fishing cat.

Please be careful we took a black lab that dove in the net after we had a salmon in it.It was nasty digging out the 2 treble hooks out of her nose.

I love these pics!!!

New ones, this time around, too!

Yep... every time someone goes fishing down on the river, you'll see Molly sneaking around, trying to get down to the bank first. (That is, without getting plowed over by Rev!)

She digs in the sand, chases bugs, and yes, wades in the water!

Rupert, Riffle and Bally.

After no luck finding a Chesapeake Bay Retriver in Oregon, my wife picked up "Riffle" in Poetry Texas while visiting her parents. Riffle's Texas roots were never apparent, as she took to all the water bodies in Oregon. Mud from Mann lake, swimming in East Lake, rolling on dead salmon on the Kilchis (the 2 drives home to Corvallis were brutal!), retrieving kongs in the ocean surf, she's my girl. There was a spooky time though when Riffle started taking to my fishing buddy John, and I finally had to tell John to get his own darn dog. His wife Marie got him "Eddy", and I'd like to think Eddy's formative outings to the EE Wilson ponds with Riffle had something to do with John's and Eddy's future success in field trials. John and another one of my fishing buddies Gene eventually switched to fly rod names, hence "Winston" and "Sage".

As for Bally. Riffle was daddy's girl, and soon Bally became mommy's girl. Being an Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier, it seemed appropriate to name her after a famous Irish Atlantic Salmon stream and fly pattern, the Ballyshannon. She did learn to retrieve from Riffle (!), but she tends to favor logging-road water puddles over moving water :-(

Then there's Rupert. Wife and I were doing yard work when a skin-n-bones cut-up Yellow Lab wandered up our driveway. He looked near death. While we posted flyers and newspaper ads in hopes someone would claim him, we "temporarly" gave him the name of the person we were hoping would win Survivor Pearl Islands, Rupert Boneham. After several visits from folks from up to 30 miles away who had to say "sigh, that's not my dog", we opted not to vote Rupert out.

Today we went mushroom hunting, and the old girl Riffle covered 4+ miles, Bally 8 miles and youthful Rupert probably 16+. Rupert also scored a roll in some critter crap along the way.

This is Tucker. He is half Black Lab and half Boxer. He loves to go fishing.

He likes bank fishing alot more than the boat because he gets to play ball. Which sometimes wears him out.

When he plays ball, he doesn't hold anything back. Check out this picture of him diving over the bank for the ball.

This is his younger brother Charlie (also half Black Lab and half Boxer), he isn't old enough to go fishing yet. But, I am sure he will like it too.

You should see Chris Sessions new dog, Cozak. (sp?)

He is the neatest, most calm labrador I have ever met! And of really good lines, too. Chris? If you are out there, do you have a pic? What a grand lab, he is!

Too funny... we had all three dogs romping around the living room a week ago. What a riot! Watch the china cabinet go down!

Fenway on his first boat ride, also his first swim that day, in November!
Now he won't let me go anywhere in the boat without him.

This is our 2 1/2 year old cattle dog. Her name is Paige. She likes to fish and barks loudly when there is a "fish-on".You will probably hear her on the columbia this spring.

Tippy, my river rescue kitty from the Nestucca River. Jennie, she does the same thing your cat does. She likes to ride on my shoulder and she is not afraid to walk on the gunnels of my clack.

My brother in-laws energized German Shorthair Abby. I love the dog but drives me nuts flyfishing off their property in the summertime!

And my parents English Springer Izzy. She's always ready to hop in the drift boat or pose with the fish.

This is little chumski, can't keep her out of the river when they are running. Course she can only go for the jacks (she's bigger than she looks in the picture).

My little fishing cat, she would follow me up and down the river, just hanging out and waiting for a petting.
