Default Open seat, Wednesday, Newport, ocean salmon

Gonna try one more day for ocean salmon, it's the last day of the ocean salmon season and it looks likely we'll be able to get on the ocean. Plan on taking Silverfish south to fish off the mouth of the Alsea. If the ocean or the CG won't let us out, then it's just crabbing and fishing for salmon in YB--not nearly as enjoyable. I'm expecting (and really hoping!) to be able to fish the ocean.

Probably leave the dock at 8 or so, be back before dark, but not sure when. Tides are favorable.

Silverfish fishes 4 easily for salmon, so there are two open seats for now, Jack isn't quite sure yet if he'll be going. Our last trip there we got 3 chinook, but the usual lack of a guarantee applies!

PM me if you are interested, I'll answer questions about Silverfish, it's equipment, or my experience. I won't be at my computer later this afternoon or evening and plan on being in Salem tomorrow for the OPAC MRWG meeting, but I'll make efforts to respond asap. Consider including a phone # if you're interested.

Good oppurtunity for those who have the time. Be sure and wear your costumes.

Ron, I doubt those birds just appeared out of the blue. There were an amazing number of them and they were on the feed hard.

They are still there .. would be my guess.

Have fun.

On Oct. 13, we fished near birds just as we turned south. Caught a couple of rockfish and 2 coho, no chinook. So we picked up and ran south. As always, I won't pass feeding birds without fishing near them. maybe there will be some chinook feeding there too. For sure the rockfish will be feeding if there is bait being worked.

Really hoping we can get out, will post how it goes.

I won't have to go alone, gonna have some good crew. It'll be fun.
