I did on Saturday pm and lost the battle. Found it best to stay away from B10 becaue of the idiots wanting to go north and sount instead of east and west. They cut you off, push you into other boats and then cuss at you for being there. Would have had more fun mowing the lawn as FM2 did. Did manage a fish per rod, but nothing big. Caught them between 12 and 10 and to the south side of the channel. Had a number of hits that just didn't get hoofed. Will give it a go after labor day weekend and hope the crowds are gone. I did get wind burned again so I have to agree, it was hot at B10.
Keep your hooks wet....

Something has to be done about the North/South guys out there at the buoy. It never fails that they're the ones with all standing at the back of the boat with a fish on and the wheel unattended !! Yelling for everyone to get out of the way because of the fish! RIGHT !! I guess Rauly finally resorted to blowing his whistle and demanding that they get out of the pool !! MAybe that what we'll have to do. ??

I got to use my horn yesterday - it kept me from getting hit. I realized the Tiller Man couldn't see me, as his large crewman was standing right between us. Collision averted, but just in time.

Now, I've fished for fall salmon in the estuary off and on for about 25 years ... and friends and neighbors, I don't recall ever seeing a day like yesterday between Ilwaco and Chinook. The bite was ON consistently from daybreak well past high slack tide. Fish-on EVERYWHERE, salmon leaping out of the water.

Thousands of boats - on a Monday! I can't imagine even attempting a weekend day. At times it got so crowded, I wanted to get out of the fray but I simply could not go forward or left or right.

The boats catching the most fish were using added flashy things, green or red, with a Delta diver in the same color, looked like anchovies might have been a better choice than herring, but and also having 5 or 6 rods with all that flash ...

We could only get one keeper to the net, and I had to bring it in myself
released one native, had one hook-spit right behind the boat, 3 more on-then-off, and a few that just wanted to shred our bait.

A guy came into Tackle Time right behind us to weigh a HUGE silver, I guessed it close to 20 pounds, it weighed at at 18 all I could say was "NICE FISH BUDDY", ours was about 9 if you're generous. Weather was great - warm, cloudy, calm until the sun came out around 11:00

Hey (please? )don't delete this whole post, but this guy is an absolute salmon magnet. We stuck around him for quite a while, which was maybe not such a good idea because all the fish were getting in his boat. He definitely had 'em dialed in.

We wasted quite a bit of time looking for the crab pots next to the wrong row of pilings, duh ... and cursing the thieves, etc. - good thing we checked further up the river. 4 nice keepers, 3 females, and 1 just-not-quite. Fished below the bridge and by the Sawdust Pile on the way back, but no action for us, saw a couple caught by the Church Hole.

The rivers should be PACKED with coho soon , wish I was at Astoria again today, could be even better ...
