Default spin-n-glo woes

i've almost given up using spin-n-glos because of this problem. perhaps someone can help me out.

i rig up my leader, drop a bead down and then the spin-n-glo. i'll put a little tuft of yarn in the egg loop, hit it with scent and start working it. for about the first ten minutes it's fine. after that, the yarn starts to wind up under the bead. another five minutes and it starts to wind up under the spin-n-glo. another five minutes and the whole leader ends up wound around itself.

should i just expect to have to change leaders every thirty minutes when i'm fishing spin-n-glos or not use any yarn? if i use a corky in place of the bead, it'll take longer to wind up but it still happens.

Try putting a barrel swivel in between your spin and glo and your main line. I do this on ALL my setups (tho I don't use spin n glos from the boat) and it seems to keep things from getting twisted up. Good luck!! Mark

Here is my solution....stiffer leader to keep line straight and add another bead to keep the yarn farther away.

Marty's right about the stiffer line. I'd also suggest adding additional beads. Sometimes I run as many as 3 with my Spin n glo's. Good luck.

Amp-

Try adding as many as 2 real small beads and a few larger ones too, for springers I did extremely well with 5 beads. 3 large 2 small. You should be attaching your setup to some sort of spreader. This is extremely helpful when casting some distance, and most come with a barrel swivel on the end to attach your leader to. Finally beef up the line, and you could tie a simple overhand knot wiht the yarn above the hook and trim excess yarn away. Hope this might help.

Amp, Have to agree with the extra beeds. The problem you are having is the bottom beed is probally spinning and then getting the yarn. a few extra beeds will elminate the problem. Another good place for scent is down inside the spin-n-glo. Worked well for us on springers. Good luck
