Default Rod Building Forum

Just wondering why we don't have a Rod Building Forum. It would be nice to see how to wrap rods and also to see some of the members work.

Any votes for a new forum???

I'll second the motion, but only if you agree to be the moderator. Should be a piece of cake with all the agreeable folks around here.

I'd love to have a rod building forum here. I do use rodbuilding dot organization, but wouldn't mind getting my answers a bit closer to home.

That is true Pete, but I thought us pure mortals could not post to the tips and tricks any more.

You can post in the other forums and the good stuff can be preserved ... usually we leave the original thread in the original forum and only move a copy to the Tips forum.

As I think about rod building, I wonder if the issues and techniques of Salty rod building have much in common with fly rod building or bass or salmon rod building. I know there are boards which have dozens of specialty forums. They're much harder to manage.

Rod building is pretty much rod building. Putting on a grip isn't much different it its cork for a salmon rod or a 1wt fly rod. Components change or are larger, but the methods are pretty much the same.

As it is now if I have a hard question I go to another site. The forum there has all the different rods under one forum.

Okie, I think you need to have 20 or 25 posts to be able to put something up on the classified section. If you are not a sponsor and you are putting up duplicates of the same rods for sale, one might think you are doing that as a business and Jennie recently put up a sticky on that.
