Default Lake Billy ramp update

FYI the draw down is still in effect and the lake is still dropping. The main ramp (Cove Palisades) is barricaded but I still see trailers in the parking lot. I would advise you too use at your own risk. Single axle trailers at most and good luck at that. First Deschutes ramp is gated and locked for improvements and the second ramp is still open but again use at your own risk and with care. Had a guy limp into the shop Tuesday witha bent axle on a 18' boat so be carefull. Spoke to a client who is a guide and he reported that the Rainbows were very willing. Good luck and if you need more current info feel free to PM me or call me at the shop 541-546-3354 ask for Mike.

Thanks for the update Mike. Do you have any idea if at full draw down any of the ramps will be useable?

That remains a good question. I am leaning towards maybe Wish I could be more help. It should be intersting to see what happens for Bull trout season.

Mike--what is the time frame here? When will the water levels be back up?

Is there a website that keeps track of the water level at LBC ? Any chance of a photo on how low the water is at the boat ramp at Cove Palisades? I still have 6 weeks before I go fishing for the bull trout. I cant wait to get this year over with Its been a very tough year.

Jimmy--- I found a website that explains that the water levels will be dropped 7 feet and held there thru the winter. Can't find the link again. I'm sure we will find a suitable place to launch. Otherwise I will be a very irritable boy all winter.:frown:

I guess if I can launch from the beach at Crescent Lake in the winter then launching at LBC shouldn't be a big problem. Its a long boat ride from the Deschutes boat launch to the dam. Thanks for the info.

I fished LBC this weekend, the barricade says that the docks have been removed so launch at your own risk, there is however plenty of ramp just no dock. We went out at 2:00 pm and ran up the Metolius Arm worked one small cove for a couple hours landed a very nice bright Koke, and a decent rainbow had what looked to be another koke on but lost him about 20ft behind the boat. Very fun afternoon for the kids and I. Definately a pain to load the old Fiberform with the front cover on and no dock. The barricade did indicate that the upper deschutes ramp still had the dock in place.
