Sturgeon closed ??

I have seen a few post regarding fishing for sturgeon. I was under the impression that gator fishing was closed up to Bonneville during the spawning season.

Fact or fiction??

Catch and release only, IIRC.

It is C&R only in the Columbia through the end of September(the gillnetters this week were allowed 200-400 Sturgeon). It's not because of them spawning , Spawning happens a little earlier in the summer. It's basically because of catch quotas (approx 40,000 I believe).

I thought sturgeon fishing was closed untill Oct 1 or the 15th,better check before you go.
