why gill nets in columbia??

i have fished for sturgeon in the columbia for 20 years every year i get more restrictions and less fish now a 10 fish per year limit ..one ( joke) fish per day size limit= 36 no wait 40 no wait 42" no wait= less than 60" max!! BUT WE STILL LET THEM GILLNET THE ONLY RIVER IN THE UNITED STATES!!!!......WHY?????

That's the million dollar question! There are commercial people on the ODFW board so you can bet the commercial interests are represented. It's a sensitve issue on this board with some people coming in on both sides of the issue. If you are really passionate about getting nets off of the river then maybe you would be interested in NorthWest Steelheaders.

or you could write your congressmen. That doesn't cost anything, but the price of a stamp, or you can even email them. It's not too hard to state your discontent in an eloquent letter. See, even I can use the gift of gab to sound smart [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

Also, look into joining the Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA). They do not have an Oregon chapter started up yet, but soon my friend, but soon.
