Default Hagg lake is producing

I went up to Hagg with my 4-year-old on Sunday. Two hours on the east end resulting in four trout. One small one on a worm and bobber(my sons) and three nice sized fish on rainbow powerbait on the bottom. All three of those were in the 14-16" range. The largest one is my Hagg lake personal best. I catch a lot of trout out there, but the big ones are always elusive. Just thought I'd pass that on as the season is quickly coming to an end.

How's fishing on the west end of the lake? I always mean to try the west end, but I guess I'm a creature of habit and hit my favorite spots on the east end first, then I never make it over there.

Thumbs up Re: Hagg lake is producing

Good Job!!! Great post. I haven't been there in ages. I think I heard it is open to the middle of November. I'll have to get out there. Has anybody done any trolling on Hagg? I just was wondering......

the last couple times I've fished Hagg, we've got some good trout on crank baits.

I used to only troll until last two years ago. I started bank fishing because I sold my running boat and bought a project boat. It took me a bit to figure out, but now I like both methods depending on my mood or the weather. I sold the big boat so now I troll in my kayak if trolling is what I feel like that day. So the answer to your question is yes. My personal experience has been that up until a few years ago, trolling was awesome. I caught fish all the time. One day I could hardly run the boat because I would have a fish one almost the instant I got my line in. But in the last few years, trolling hasn't been very productive for me(or the boats I'm watching). I have done better on the bank than any of my boat trips. And on the days I do both(ie, park the yak half way through), I catch more on shore. I still enjoy trolling more since I'm doing something, but I've been more productive on shore...but maybe that's just me. As far as trolling, there are so many methods that work for people, it would take way too long to name them all. My go-to is a Ford Fender slowly trolled with anything behind from worms(fake or real), to flies, triple teasers, small flatfish, etc. My best days have come on chrome triple teasers and/or real worms. Good luck!

I don't know about the west end, but the shore straight across from 'A' ramp is producing. I trolled up about a two fish per hour along the entire south shore starting almost straight across from the ramp Sunday. Most productive area for me was along the south end of the dam, but most of the boats seemed to be on the north side. Wedding ring behind a fender, slow slow slow, some caught at the surface, some down around 25 feet.
Any one from the north side got a report for us?
