Frenchman's Bar This Weekend?
Seems like the action ought to be picking up?
Just wondering how many of you will be giving this area a try this weekend and if you have any techniques to share?
We'll be using the rig that worked well last year -- gold/silver Alvin w/scent, behind a prismatic flasher, 5' lead line and 6'leader.

Re: Frenchman's Bar This Weekend?
GaryK,
Thought about giving F-bar a try this weekend. Should be a good tide for spoons around 12:45 saturday. Caught a few last year using chrome alvin (3 ft dropper,4ft leader). Never tried using a flasher. Nehalem is a possibility, although I am not reading glowing results. Good fishing to you!!!!!

Re: Frenchman's Bar This Weekend?
OK guys, for us poor people that don't have a boat and have to plunk, could you glance at the people on shore and see if they are getting any there at the park. It they are, would you email me and let me know as I will head way over there from Forest Grove to give it a try next week. I have never fished from shore there but have seen a lot of people there trying. I appreciate the info. Thanks.

Re: Frenchman's Bar This Weekend?
Gary....been slow out there this week so far...every day. Gonna try today, tomorrow and Sat. We're using Alvins...5 foot dropper, 3 foot leader. And I sure hope it'll be picking up. The reports from downriver are looking better...so they're coming. See you out there...and Good Luck!!

Re: Frenchman's Bar This Weekend?
Frank...there's been a half dozen or so bankies there at the park..haven't seen any action. Will get better...tides are good times for you next week, bad for me. Fish the outgoing tide. Not enough outgoing tide for me to be out there next week.

Re: Frenchman's Bar This Weekend?
FishinMission, 6.2' is not much of a high tide. Is there a tide heigth cutoff were you generally deem it to be worth while to fish at F-bar? I have spent more time drifting smaller rivers with little tidal influence. Will be going down to the Rogue on labor day and fishing for Nookies and 1/2 Lber's.Buddy of mine in Gold beach say's the lber's are in and are big this year.

Hawgcatcher (great moniker by the way). I'm
on vacation week after labor day, e-mail me if you have any interest in fishing from a boat up higher. I'll respond with specifics.

Re: Frenchman's Bar This Weekend?
Freak...as long as there's some flow out there...I'll be fishing. Those fish are gonna come...and even if the high tide isn't all that high..they'll be moving through. It's even possible to catch them trolling on the incoming tide. You just need to be there when they come thru. You can't catch them at home!!

Re: Frenchman's Bar This Weekend?
Can anyone give the river mile or landmark for finding Frenchman's Bar? I've been going over the river atlas and old F&H News and can't find it.
Thanks

Re: Frenchman's Bar This Weekend?
Frenchman's Bar is about 2 miles downstream of Kelley Point on the Washington side.
