Default Herring vs. Anchovies (mouth of Columbia)

While fishing the mouth of the Columbia in the USS Slutgoddess with Bill Hedder and Chris Sessions, I noticed all of the anchovies were reserved or gone but we did very well on fresh herring. I'm interested your opinions. Brent

Both work well and I've caught both chinook and silvers on small anchovies.

The reason there were not any chovies left was because for some reason there isn't as big a supply of them and the shops can only get a set amount. You have to reserve them early.

its hard to believe the shortage of anchovies on the coast this year, especiallly when they have been so thick here on the rogue and the chetco in brookings...

Jawbreaker....I don't know about the bait fish we used being all that important. I do think that the scent played a very big part....Oooohhh .... I guess you missed that part of the day ....because you were busy looking for "RALPH" ...Just so you know...The scent we were using was called "RALPH"..!!!

J.K. ...You were a great hand on the Ocean that day!

Lets do it again!

LOL. AAhhh yes, the secret scent. Get you a limit every time. Even if you don't want one. Doh! If I recall, Bill was looking about as green as an Irish Lord and wasn't to far behind me.

J.B.,

I do have some Irish in my family tree...That is why I was a little green.

You handled it very well and stayed on the fish...even when looking for Ralph. My green hat is off to you and ready for the next trip.

Bill
