Default headach blacktail

this was a strange day of hunting! Last year i had killed a three pointer in the same clump of vine maple, this year it was a lot thicker and more leaves but again what look like a nice buck, wide but all i could see was his head and horns. It was raing pretty good with the fog rolling in and out so I had to decide what i wanted to do. I decided to take a head shot which normally i won't do but conditions were making my decision for me. I shot through a small window of brush, pretty sure i could make it but when i shot,no deer. After about ten seconds or so i started to look a round and there he was about 50yds down the ridge so i then shot again and killed a piece of vine maple. He went a little further and fell and rolled into what a thought was a small canyon. Up to the truck to get the haul tape and change to a dry coat.I laid out nearly 300yds when i get to this small canyon that was just full of windfalls and straight down i then began to look for another way when i see my buck down the ridge further i throw my gun up to shoot when i realize i have only one bullet in my gun and the rest are in my wet coat in the truck 300yds up the hill. I have one chance hoping he will go to the bottom of this ridge and unto a small flat before the timber where i can get a long shot but no brush. While watching him go down hill he fell twice and was wobbeling the wholetime. Finnaly in the bottom one shot left est. 360yds he was dead. Now back to the truck to get the big spool of tape and down i go all the time thinking how strange this deer had acted i most have missed the head shot and i know i missed the second shot but why was he falling down like a drunk maybe he had been hit before. The only easy part to this whole thing was i walk wright up to him and i now new what had happened. The head shot was just a little off it had split his skull right under his ear and the only thing holding his brains in was his skin. What a headach he must of had.

WOW! great buck! Now THAT'S some confidence! You head for the truck to get the hauling rope before looking to see if you hit him? I love it! Congratulations and nice work!
