The Oregon Coast Zone Managment Zone Association has come out against the Govs Legacy Proposal. Yet another Coastal Organization, City Council and Port Commission speaking up against the Govs mandate to force these areas down the throats of Coastal Residents. Thank you OCZMA for speaking up. The OCZMA is also in the process of getting financial support to make its own "Common Ground" type movie. It will emphasize the successes of current Fisheries Management, Heritage of Fishing on the Coast, Vital role that Rec and Commercial Fisheries to the Coastal Communites. It will counter the perception of the doom and gloom portrayed in "Common Ground" and show that the inconvenient truth is that things are not as bad as the producers of CG want us to believe.

A very good paragraph from the article:
They urged OPAC to take advantage of "some of the best resources to steer this process for preservation and best sustainability" of the territorial sea - commercial fishermen from Brookings to Astoria, especially Newport's fishermen "who have participated in and have been pioneers in the development of successful, sustainable fisheries for decades on the Oregon coast." Finally, they emphasized the need to restrict the proposed nomination process to proposals from scientists, fishing industry representatives, ocean regulatory agencies, and coastal community representatives, rather than a statewide free-for-all.
