Default Taking advantage of the low water conditions

I know almost everyone is thinking Coho and buoy 10 right now but if you get the chance to scope out your favorite Salmon/Steelhead river in the low water conditions it will reward you come this fall when the rivers are flowing and the fish are moving. This past weekend I went camping with my family on the Wilson and the kids and I went swimming in one of my honey holes for the first time. This certain hole would consistently produce steelhead most of the time. Almost all of the fish I caught were within a ten foot long stretch of water. After swimming there I found the river bottom in this section of water was about two feet deeper then the surrounding river bed. Apparently that two foot depth was enough for fish to hold there instead of the shallower water. In another fishing hole I found the same thing. Fish would consistently hold along this ledge where the depth was slightly deeper. Just food for thought.

Default Re: Taking advantage of the low water conditions

Are you saying the low water makes it easier to find the slightly deeper holes?
So it's, find deeper holes, remember them, and "cash in" after the rains begin?
Hmmmm . . . now how do I "save waypoint" on this darn thing.
