Default Coho Report 8/20

Fished out of Ilwaco today. We trolled the outgoing from Jetty A to the Church with 1 takedown for 2 hours of fishing. About 10:30 or so I got a little brave and decided to hop the bar and see what the ocean had to offer. 40 plus miles an hour over the bar with no problem, hit the CR Buoy and within 25 minutes we had 2 limits of silvers in the box The best part was we didn't see another boat for miles it seemed. We hopped back into the river and by noon we were heading home When we past buoy 10 it looked as if the bite started to turn on cause we saw quite a few nets flying. How did everyone else do? I wonder why more people didn't hop the bar and fish outside today? I am definately no expert in crossing the bar but today it was SWEET!

We were out at the CR as well... would agree that the bar and ocean were very calm...great boating... however our success was not as good... only three keepers, probably a dozen released due to excess fins or stunted growth, probably 20 more takedowns... with no net needed... these fish obviously are well schooled on the 'catch and release' game on barbless hooks.

Started at the bridge this morning and we had one small chinook and two coho. Went to Buoy 10 about 11:00am and had our limit in 20 minutes. It was crazy. One Chinook and 8 nice silvers. One silver was 14lbs.
