Default Wobblers?

This being our first fall chinook season on the Columbia, I have to stock the boat with the appropriate tackle. Sounds like it is a wobbler game. What do you use? I have seen Alvin's, Clancy's, Brads, & 10-spot. Any color suggestions? From what I have read, most are fishing in about 40-50 feet. How long on the leader and dropper? What test leader?

Thanks in advance.

Default Re: Wobblers?

Well I am not an expert but I do prefer the Brads and Alvins. The Brads seem to work better when you have lighter current. As far as color, it's a preference game. I have a blue and yellow pattern I have used for several years and love it but I have a friend who will only use lemon head alvins. I heard a guy once say I catch 90 percent of my fish on one color. Wow do you think he fishes that color 90 percent of the time? I like to fish 30 feet of water with a 4 to 5 foot dropper. If we are fishing several rods I will vary the dropper length and see if it makes a difference. I do try to position my boat just on the fast water side of a seam line (where the slow and fast water meet). I back the lure out to where the lead is staying on the bottom good, sit back and wait . Last year I tried the braided lines and lost a bunch of fish on the hook set. This year I am going back to mono. I prefer Stren Magna thin. 17 pound diameter but 30 pound strength. The smaller diameter allows my wobblers to work a little better. Good luck!
