I'm glad I gave you those Vision hooks! Told you they were good!
I think Daiichi are awesome, but I can't always afford those.
Vision does the trick!

My favorite hook happens to be any hook buried deep in the mouth of a big ol keeper fish. Seriously I have had good luck with Eagle Claw but I for one sharpen any hook I use. Best of luck Tim

I like Owner hooks too. Gamakatsu jig hooks are another favorite of mine.

This year for salt water fishing I've been using VMC perma steel hooks in 4/0 and 5/0. I really like these hooks, not only do they sharpen well and hold an edge, corrosion isn't nearly a problem like regular steel hooks. These hooks perform as good as gammies for less then half the cost. Owners and Daiichi are to expensive for my pocket book. Saw some Daiichi at Fred Meyers for $4.95 for 6 hooks.....ouch!

I use the 4/0 rigging anchovies and double 5/0's for everything else, thinking about using some 6/0's too.

Hustlerrjim, How has your landing ratio been compared to hookup's using 2/0 upper hooks? I found we land many fish on the upper hook and because of this, I like larger hooks with more bite, like the 5/0. I know guides who use nothing less then double 6/0's. I assume your fishing plug cut herring with your riggs.

I have been tying my Mooching rigs with 4/0 and 5/0 black chrome gammys for down at astoria. I
will go to 6/0 for tillamook with the bigger herring. Have tied a few with owners also,
I really like the owner hooks, they do seem to run smaller though so you basically
need to go a size bigger than normal with them. I use these same two brands for bobber fishing, then VMC for drift fishing.
