Default Anybody heard of any Albacore off WA?

The latest SST I just looked at showed a nice finger of 62 degree water off WA. Has anybody gone out or talked with anybody that's gone lookin'? Could it be time to dust off the cedar plugs?WA SST

Hamichi,
Was out last tuesday. Started trolling 35 miles straight off Klipsan and worked our way SW towards the inside dumping grounds. Started hitting big fish at about 38 miles. Kept a SW course and ran into the commercial fleet working an area at 55 miles. Fairly steady fish...biggest of course were in closer. Had reports last Thursay of many 25-30 lb. fish sraight off Westport at 47 miles. Been salmon fishing since and have only heard there's a big blow coming down off the Queen Charlots hitting Tues. - Wed.

Thanks for the reply, Sockeyedan. As I am a transplant from SoCal, your local-lingo response was Greek to me! I did get that I should go looking.
Do any of you guys take live bait out? If so, where do you buy it? I heard some talk that you can get some in Westport. It would be nice to carry some live 'chovies or 'dines
around again. I'm still amused at people asking what that big aluminum tank on my stern is for! It does keep the Dungeness frisky 'till I get back in.

Sorry about the vague locality of the fishing report Hamachi. From westport the Dumping grounds are SSW. On the chart you'll see them marked about 50-70 miles off the mouth of the Col. Theres an inside dumping zone and an outside dumping zone which is the smaller of the two (I'm assuming they were for unused military ordinance). I've heard the fleet was fishing at 45 miles off Westport and a bit north over the weekend. However, there running for cover now due to the front moving in (should improve for the weekend). Call Westport Seafood Exchange 362680133 for bait.
