Doctors seek kitchen knife ban
Europe again leads the way. From The Scotsman:
Doctors seek kitchen knife ban
EDWARD BLACK
Key points
• Doctors claim long kitchen knives serve no purpose except as weapons
• 55 out of 108 homicide victims in Scotland were stabbed last year
• Police superintendents say a ban would be difficult to enforce
Key quote
"Many assaults are impulsive, often triggered by alcohol or misuse of other drugs, and the long pointed kitchen knife is an easily available, potentially lethal weapon, particularly in the domestic setting" - Dr Emma Hern, writing in British Medical Journal
Rest of the story at: http://news.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=579102005
Are pointed sticks next?

Next they will ban cars. People do not fare very well when they jump out in front of them

Re: Doctors seek kitchen knife ban
Will once those insanely dangerous knives are banned, I wonder what people will use next to assult each other? I feel a ban on owning a pair of hands might occur. Don't blame the weapon, blame the operator.

Re: Doctors seek kitchen knife ban
They won't take my knives until they pry them from my cold dead fingers, but just in case they form a group called Kitchen Knives Inc or the Bradys against knives. I decided to go through my other kitchen untinsils. I have cast iron skillets, a rolling meat tenderizer for a slow death, peanut oil should poisen a few people. How about all those kitchen cleaning products. Ah the kitchen sink should be a good drowning spot, and that boiling water on the stove would be a good impulse weapon, but I better stop there or some Scot might use the I read it on ifish defence.

Re: Doctors seek kitchen knife ban
no what they really need to ban is the fork . now that thing is dangerous , think about it . it has roughly 4 points to it . it is really easy to hide . now that right there could do some damage

Re: Doctors seek kitchen knife ban
Another prime example of the "Save us from ourselves" crowd running amuck! Thanks to the censorship properties of political correctness, nobody will publicly identify the people as the lunatics they are.
What's next, pitchforks? I say the gene pool could use some clorine...

Re: Doctors seek kitchen knife ban
Got anything about this that isn't two years old? I'm not finding any mention of it after 2005.
