Cool Re: Help! I'm being attacked!

You should stop drinking from their feeder... It really makes them angry...... Barney

Does your smile look like a flower?

I love it when the hummers attack. The neighbor has flowers by his water feature and when th hummers attack and hover it is amazing to watch.

Thank you for the super pics. The second one looks like a Black-chinned Hummingbird and the first possibly an Anna's Hummingbird because of the iredescent red crown and throat. Far from being an ornithology expert this is just a novice's guess.

One way or another they're beautiful birds (I do know this) and thanx for sharing.

I believe they are the same bird. But it is beautiful. I need a camera like that one Pete. Thanks.

Yep, it sure is the same after taking a closer look at the photo.

I should have read Pete's caption before looking at the pic. My eyesight is terrible which is one of the reasons I gave up up hunting. And for this the entire state of Oregon can be thankful!

How long do those little buggers hang around? This is our first year with a hummingbird feeder. Do I need to keep it filled all winter? Or do they eventually find their way South?

In Portland, some hummies will stay all winter. Keep feeding until they stop eating. Last year some folks talked about creating heated roosting boxes ... keep the nectar fresh!

I have seen only a few hummys since I left Montana a long long time ago and this year is the first time I saw one sitting on a branch. Always before they were flying.

Neat little birds.
