We have 14 hours or so until the westside opener. How many of you will be done by this time tomorrow?

I have a feeling that at this time tomorrow I will be just leaving the Decoy after breakfast looking to backfill a good blind Gawd I hate chip pulling sometimes!!!!

Well, I hope to be done by 10:00 am.
Jim as you found out last year, a roam unit is a one man show. If it was a blind reservation, I would invite you and that little biddy dog.

Hope you guys get a spot in the morning draw.

If the last 4 years are any indicator I won't be done by 10:00 but it is highly likely I will be done by noon.

I am staying all freaking day. I don't plan to limit, and I don't plan to go home early.

As much as I would love to stay all day.
I've got things to do.
Hopefully I can take 1 shot, 7 teal drop 1 minute after shooting starts.
That would suit me just fine for opening day.

Hopefully, I have beginners luck when pulling chips.

If not I may head back south and hit the river.

At 10 AM i will be drinking coffee (like many of you).

I will be thinking about ducks and geese and storm fronts, tides and water depths and the way that the clouds look like things familiar.

At 10 a.m. I will be driving in my little broken down Nissan on the way to work at the Phone Co, and I will be imagining the way that the wind rustles the leaves on the giant cottonwoods along the Rivers edge and the sound of the crows chasing the tide for what is left along the shoreline.

My dogs will sleep all day long, and when I get home it will be dark.

I will go into the garage and start the process of moving the gigantic bags of divers and weights and long cords of anchor line, I'll dig out a few dabblers from the back of the pile.

I'll see that old cork Canvasback with the Basswood head that I have fiddled around with for 3 seasons now, and wonder if I'll ever finish it.

Alex will wander into the Garage and understand that the time is nearly here for us to hit the water's edge again.

Ginger will continue sleeping.

Good luck my Duckbrothers, be safe, keep an eye out for each other (especially the folks in the little car top boats that always have trouble down on the big river).

Take some time to talk with your buddies out there,

Spend a bit of time letting that old dog be a pup again, and take in all of the good things that a day outdoors can do for your mind, and your spirit and your heart.

Who knows, might just bag a few birds along the way.

Best to all of you,

Todd..

Oh, Don't shoot the decoys,
Don't shoot each other,
Dont forget the anchor for the boat or your duck stamp.

Most of all, Don't shoot the dog!

Hey, Jimbo! How's that dog's retrieving coming along? I hear it's quite the Alpha male! Put's those over-grown labs in their places! I'd say bring him along on a hunt with me and Cocoa, but Cocoa's already got self esteem issues after dealing with my wife's 4lb chihuahua.

Slay 'em Satuday, buddy!!

In honor of David Boys I will probably wait until the birds grow some feathers and a brain- maybe mid to late November. Dave

I WILL...if I draw chip # 1 through 5. Otherwise, I can't get to the Sandy fast enough. Gonna bring the fishin' gear in the truck just in case.

God, I love this time of year...it's impossible for a day to be "a bust".
