Default Eugene Opener

I moved down to Eugene a few months ago and do not yet have anyone to hunt with. Got a few dozen duck and a couple dozen goose decoys and a canoe and am wandering if there is anyone who would let me join up with them this opening weekend. I may be able to trade a hunt for some good private land near Salem, a little later in the year, when there are more birds down.

Hello tbrass, welcome to IFISH.
As a new member, its customary for you to introduce yourself in your first post, rather than just ask for assitance. Tell us a story about a memorial trip so we can get to know you, and you can get to know us.

Concerning ducks, I think there are a few IFISH people down your way.
Refer to the following treads. Looks like the first one has another new guy in your neck of the woods, looking for the same thing.

Oh sure, sorry for the premature request for assistance.

I grew up in Minnesota, hunting in Western Minnesota almost every weekend with my dad; skipped the high school football games and the Halloween every year to get out there. Went to college in Wisconsin and had oodles of memorable hunts, so memorable that my hunting buddy decided that he could make money off these hunts, and he is now a guide in the area. I moved out to Oregon last year as an Americorps volunteer. Lived in Monmouth/Independence had had many memorable hunts just out of town, thanks to a very gracious dairy farmer. I am now in Eugene, working on my Masters.

I am having a hard time putting one Oregon hunt above the other, so my last and only real "hunt" this year (excluding summer lake) was for early goose. I was on my way home from a softball game and there to my left were about 70 big honkers, just smiling at me. I was given permission to hunt anytime, so that evening I got all my stuff ready and...alarm did not go off. Quite angry, I tried to convince myself that the next day would work just fine. The next day I made it out and the field must have gotten pretty picked through in those few days, because only 3 birds came through, but I got em. It was a beautiful sunny morning, so I decided to go lay out there in the evening too despite the lack of birds. Below are links to a couple of pictures of this hunt.
