Default whuppin stik?

Has anyone tried these rods before? They are only 19.99 at cabelas and look inexpensive{great for the kid} but strong enough for the abuse from a youngster!

I bought it just for the name. It was my shad slayer. It out fished Freakwaters loomis he's still mad to this day. It held true to its name and put a whuppen on him.

I've used one for sturgeon and had no problems. Great rod to have when you take people that don't have their own. A buddy has caught several springers on his whuppin stick. Can't beat the price.

Hmmm..... I'll have to check into them. For using it for a bobber rig, what length would you folks recommend?

I was looking at them. They sure do look a lot like an Ugly Stick for a cheaper price. They even make a 10' one. Could be interesting for $20.00.

Well I have two. I used the eight foot spinning rod last year and landed two chinook over 30lbs. best time I ever had fishing.

I also hooked and landed a seven foot pacific blue shark using the same rod. I liked it so well I bought the seven foot casting rod this time.

I use my on a down rigger with a hoochie. No flasher, no nothing. It was a blast using the small rod and light gear.

that is my two cents.

This is funny to see this topic. I was just looking through the Cabelas add's last night and ran into this Whuppin Stik for the first time. I was (am) looking at these pretty seriously for use with divers and flashers at Astoria or out in the Ocean. There have been too many times I have been looking at the bend in my graphite pole and wondering if it was going to bust or not!

I agree that they looking like a Ugly Stik copy cat.

I just got one for running kwik fish, I have used it 2 times and it sure has a nice action. I am hoping the softness of the fiberglass rod will give my lure a little slower action,

They're great for trolling or plunking but a little heavy for casting. They will beat a big fish faster than a lot of more expensive rods so should be a little easier on the fish that need to be released.

Back ttt,

Question for FisherPrice...

For landing that shark, were you using the Whuppin stick or the Magnum Whuppin Stick?

Also funny to see this on the top again. Was looking at them just today, contemplating, wondering if I'd be able to show my face on Ifish with one. I'm thinking they're supposed to be an Ugly Stick knockoff, being as they're on the adjacent page. I think I'll buy one!

I am a most pathetic excuse for a fisherman but I have used the heck out of a cheap little whuppin' stick. I tell ya, for the price they can't be beat. Give it a run, worst case, it breaks and you are out $20 + shipping. However I would like to see the fish that breaks it. I have a Lami that I use most of the time but if the water i the least bit hairy or off color with god knows what floating down I break out the whuppin stick, I haven't been disapointed yet

Give it a go

We haven't heard back from FisherPrice about what he used to subdue Jaws....so I've gone and written up my order for the deluxe version - the Magnum Whuppin Stick, 2pc, 10-25#.

Oh well, can never have too many rods  .

I have a 8' 50# rated Whuppin Stik I bought at the new Boise Cabela's. It was the highest rated spinning rod I could find...

I caught my largest fish ever with it - a 8'er, 250# Sturgeon (by the charts) on the Snake River. It worked great. By the end of the 1 1/2hr fight my hands were done for a few days, but it handled the fish well.

I have since put an outer grip covering of 1"ID Hypalon over the cork fore grip and handle which makes it real comfortable.

Great rod for $24.95 with a 10 year warranty...

Can't say enough good stuff about it...
