Default A kicker

got in my way and I had to pick this one up. It's a 94' Mariner and looks great but not peeing out of the tell-tale like I think it should. It also ran fine when I picked it up.

How many people do there own work?
Where is a good place to get parts for a Mariner?
Don't Libraries keep manuals on these things?

Any help would be greatly apreciated. Need to get this in good running condition before the silvers come in the local rivers. Thanks,

Smily a water pump is a piece of cake to install. Make sure you have new lower unit oil as well.

Just a thought, my kicker (8hp merc) has a thermostat and dribbles water out of the tell-tail. As it warms up the stream increases then decreases as it cools. This is the way it works. If there is no thremo then it will pee a constant stream.

My old 8 hp Mariner was modified just like Waterdog mentioned. A thermostat was installed to run hotter. The 2 cycle's temp gauge from the factory is set for warmer water then we have in the northwest. Before the guage was installed, the stream of water was cold exiting the port. After, the water was warm to hot when the motor was up to temp, motor ran smoother and smoked less. When the motor was cold, no water exited or just a trickle. The dealer told me that all 2 stroke motors in the NW should be modified this way, except they only mentioned this after I brought the motor in for service and shelled out some extra dough.

Check the water temp and flow and see if it increases the longer you run the motor.

Nice catch Waterdog, I forgot about this one.

i would pull the cover and unhook the pee hose and take it off, blow thru it and make sure it`s not plugged up, also the tip where it comes thru the housing might be plugged, it`s happened to me more than once.
