Question Garage Deer Hanger?

Fellow hunters,

Before the second blacktail season, I want to install a permanent deer hook / hanger in my garage. Any ideas? The garage is dry-wall.

Get an eye bolt, find a stud. Hook a pulley to it and get a gambrel.

Find the studs get some 3" or longer lag bolts and a few feet of 2" angle iron. tap the studs with a smaller bit. Bolt angle iron perpendicular to the stugs - drill holes in the angle iron and a-fix chain shackles. Go to a garage sale and buy an old ATV winch and a 12v battery

At the large home improvement retailer I bought two 2" diameter steel rings which have 3"eye bolts attached, then screwed the eye bolts into a ceiling joist in my garage ceiling approx 4 feet apart, and slid a 5 foot length of galvanized pipe through the rings. This has held deer and elk. What I like about this is it gives me enough space to hang all the quarters.

Yes. This distributes the vertical load across two or more joists. The more joists that share the load, the better.

I have a section of 4x4 across a couple rafters, then I use a rope rachet to hoist it up with.

PS: a spray bottle of apple cider vinegar is a great anti-bacterial spray.

although i would use Uni-Strut instead of angle iron. Options are endless with Uni-Strut.

Thanks for all your input. I'm heading off to get the supplies today. I don't want to wait this year til I'm driving home with a buck in the bed of my truck to be wondering how I'm going to hang it. Of course, this attitude will probably jinx me.
