Default Tree planting oppurtunities for students?????

I am looking to take a group of my students on a day trip to plant trees/restore some habitat as part of thier environmetal based service hours needed in our school. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I can go or who is looking for help with something like this?

Call one of the local watershed councils - Claggett Creek Watershed Council comes to mind in the Salem area. Give McNary High School science teacher Gary Miller a call, as he is pretty connected into the watershed restoration projects in the Salem area.

You could also check out the OWEB website at http://www.oregon.gov/OWEB/ to find other contacts.

Tillamook Estuary Project (Garibaldi,, on the web) does co-op projects with landowners involving planting and controlling invasives and may have some suitable activities for your class.
