Springer Reports
I know it is still pretty early but has anyone heard of any springers being taken anywhere over the last couple of days . The board has been pretty quiet and I take that as a lack of effort being the main reason...I heard of a couple taken down in the OC area over the weekend but what about the Big C
I have a 4 day weekend this coming weekend and I am definately going to be efforting very hard for springers this Friday and maybe Saturday... Sunday & Monday will be set aside for GI Joes Sturgeon Derby Recon days...
Any information will be greatly appreciated and I will definately be filing reports over the 4 day weekend...good or bad...
Thanks & Tight Lines...

Re: Springer Reports
Terry,
Cracker Joe, Bobby and I fished from 7:30 AM till 4 PM today without a touch. We finished the day by Sand Island in a hog line with 4 other boats... 9 rods, 4 hours, 0 bites! I think the water needs to warm up a bit.
Good luck if you go

Re: Springer Reports
Thanks Shane...
I will be going Friday & probably Saturday for Springers... 4 day weekend thing...
I will be going down below Longview to catch that good tide exchange down there...
We have some nice big exchanges this weekend and I think it will be worth the effort down there...

Re: Springer Reports
I saw one on the bank yesterday at an undisclosed beach on the CR, about 18# and bright!! Overheard a conversation in Fisherman's yesterday with one of the guys having 2 in the boat Sunday, the big CR, down river. He said he caught them on wrapped quiks. The bankie took his on an orange/yellow spin-glo with a shrimp. I bank fished today with others but no one had a bell ringer, absolute gorgeous day and soooo peaceful. With weather like this I'm going back for more.

Re: Springer Reports
I reported in another thread that I caught an unclipped 12-15lb springer Sunday. St Helens, Orange Kwikfish with cured sardine wrap. Definitely lucky! I'm trying again tomorrow.

Re: Springer Reports
KHH, I fished Monday in the channel, and realeased a native prematurely  , and fished the Columbia below 72, today, and didn't touch a fish :depressed: Both days trolling herring! Good luck! I think shane is right about water temp. I would probably hit the channel. I should have fished the channel again today! Oh well, live and learn. The channel is clearing more everyday, and that water keeps droppin . Gives us a report! Todd

Re: Springer Reports
Started the day below Sand where the water was 42ºF and the wind was howling out of the NW. Marked some fish, but the sea-lion did all the catching. He started with a nice clipped springer about 12 feet from the stern of my boat, then took a sturgeon (sub-legal) and finished his 20 minute in-yo-face romp with another chinook. 3 hours, 3 boats, no hook-ups sent me in search of a place out of the wind with warmer water - the Channel. Temp there was 45.5ºF, but visibility was 12 inches at best. Didn't mark much and didn't see anything caught. It's early and I'm anxious, OK?

Shmilenko knows "The Point" as good as anyone. Not suprised he put one in the boat this morning.
Sure is hard to be employed this time of year!!!

Re: Springer Reports
Just so you all know John has been under the Sellwood for almost the whole week and this is the first fish to show for it. I think next week will break loose. The Willamette will be clearer and so will the big C. Besides the middle of Feb is when I start catching em.

Re: Springer Reports
I was out for about 3 hours today. The wind was blowing about 20 knots and gusting. TR-1 cranking in reverse allowed me to stay relatively straight. Experience points only today.

Trolled around for about five hours near Cathedral Park then down by Fred's. There was four of us and we threw everything at them. No dice, but we marked numerous fish on the graph.

Re: Springer Reports
Evening all, I'm new to this but here's my report. Out on the Columbia below St. Helens Sunday. Picked up a 22# Springer in 4hrs of fishing then spent about 2 hrs chasing catch & release Sturgon. Water looked good but seemed to muddy throughout the day. Bite turned off at low ebb. See ya on the river

Re: Springer Reports
Fished today on the Willamette, Was a beautiful day to be on the water...I headed for Downtown where it was sheltered for the most part..from any strong wind...No fish to speak of but it was nice to be out.
There was a decent bite last year...right here one day. I was a spectator.

Saw a boat fighting a chrome fish last year on the way to a Blazer game in April at about 5 PM in this area last year.
I almost got in a wreck. Does anyone else look at rivers when they drive?

Re: Springer Reports
Fished just below the mouth of the Clack today. No fish or take downs. Didn't see any fish from the bank rods at the Black Top or the Upper Bulk Head. There were about 25 bank rods between both locations. I will be there again Friday morning till around noon or so.
This area was like the eye of a storm. There was very little wind. It was a beautiful day.
