I just started Fly Fishing ,OMG what a rush ,my second cast I landed a 14" Brown on the Madison
Same thing happened to me, a buddy and me when fishing I tried fly fishing for the first time. I got a 19" rainbow while he only caught a couple 6 or so inchers and im hooked after that.
I bagged my first coastal Cutt last Friday afternoon by the guide shop on the Wilson. It was 18 inches on my new 3# rod. No pics. I got 3 more further up the river around 12 to 13 inches. Wait till you tie your own flies and catch a fish with it and then make your own rod and catch a fish on it with a fly you tied.
As they say, work is for people who can't fish and spinner fishing is for people who can't fly fish.
Nothing like watching that fish rising to grab your dry.....
I am fairly new myself with a lot to learn. There are a lot of regular guys out there with their fly rods....it's not all tweed and pipe smoking. I would encourage new guys to familiarize yourself with some of the customs regarding low holing and the like. It will add to the enjoyment on the river for everyone.
