Slayer, what do you mean "We did OK."? I would say two limits without getting totally exhausted is pretty good! Not great, just pretty good. Come to think of it, climbing back up the bank was pretty exhausting. Having observed the "saw method" in action, :shocked: I would say the jury is still out. Two or three more smelt on one or two dips hasn't made a believer out of me yet. We need a double blind study using at least 500 dips to prove the method. Hmmm, that could take a few years. Went smelt dipping on sunday. We did OK. However I found that when using your net if you "SAWED" throuhg the water in a back and forth method you acheived a more bountiful harvest. Food for thought!

yep, dip the net and move out and in. Also experiment with differnet depths, once you fish a good depth stick with it, they seem to follow that path.
