Buoy 10 is at the mouth of the Columbia River, just before the jetties. All the talk about "Buoy 10" actually refers to the Buoy 10 season, which is that area from the Astoria-Megler bridge, downriver to Buoy #10. The Columbia River bar begins at Buoy #1, or the CR Buoy, out in the ocean. The larger the number, the further up the river you are. The "Buoy 10" regulations do not allow salmon fishing downriver from Buoy 10. However, there is another salmon season open now, over the Columbia River bar beyond Buoy 4. You don't want to go over the bar unless you have a larger boat and a lot of experience. The Buoy 10 area is hot this year, so if you like to salmon fish, launch your boat or sign up for a charter/guide!

Go to Maptech MapServer. Type in the following coordinates: 46 degrees, 15' 15" N, 124 degrees, 03' 13" W. The map will default to a topo version. Along the top of the map, click on nautical chart. Buoy 10 will be in the middle. Then just click the arrows on any side to go in that direction.

Hope that helps. I've been there once, but the map is fun

thanks all
i went to Astoria this weekend, and as you said, Bouy 10 must be very hot, i saw about 10 thousand boats fishing for salmons
Anyway, i fished for redtail surfperch on the Fort Camby Jetty, got about 13 big ones within 4 hours.

Thanks
