Default Deer hunters...any neat Elk rutting experiences?

Deer hunters,
I usually spend some time in the woods during rifle deer just listening and watching the elk do their thing this time of year. Anybody see some good bulls and lots of bugling?
Still waiting and praying there were a few cougars harvested during buck season. We could have gotten a few during archery if we were carrying rifles:frown:.

Not related to deer hunting, but my buddy woke up to a 6X5 bugling outside his bedroom window yesterday morning. The bull had a bunch of cows with him. He was using his antlers to knock apples out of the apple trees in the backyard then he and the girls bedded 50 yards away from the house for an hour and then left.

Cool experience to start your day.

Saturday morning I watched a spike violate a small vine maple. It looked like he was going to try and mount it there for a while. He sure did get himself worked up!:lurk:

No bugling or challenges, but I did watch a herd of 19 in the open on Sunday morning that included a nice 5 point. No spikes though.

I am going to target Cougers in January. If you have a bunch, send me a PM and I will see what we can do. We plan on putting a lot of miles with a bunch of calling.

I'm planning a snow hunt this year for cougars as well. I will be in the area of starkey, ukiah and desolation. The cougar numbers there are incredible!!!

I had a 5 point bull step out 15yds from me chasing a cow. He never knew I was there. He stepped out, looked for her, stopped, and then took off after her. It was very cool.

I talked to my dad this afternoon. He was sitting alongside Hwy. 20 near Hampton watching a 5x6 with 8 cows that ran across the road in front of him. They got to the fields on the south side of the road and resumed eating alfalfa. He did mention that it looked like a very very Very nice bull!!
