Default EE Wilson Youth Pheasant Hunt Saturday

My son (9yo) first from the left had a great time Saturday at the EE Wilson Youth Pheasant Hunt. Thanks to all of the volunteers out at EE Wilson and especially to The_Duck_Master for his knowledge and dogs. We started off at 8am with some light drizzle, but were peeling off layers as the day wore on. We hunted for about 5 hours and flushed 14 pheasant. The taller kid in the center limited out and my son ended up with 1 bird. The kids all had a great time and mine was ready to go back the next day. We didn't make it out on Sunday, but I will definitely be taking him back for more during the season. The dogs were great hunters and I enjoyed the company of The_Duck_Master. I can't wait to get back out again and I know my son is ready to go anytime! Also a thank you to the members on this board that gave me the heads up on a great event!

It was great to meet you and your boy Tex. I'll always remember the way your son started following Peanut around after she "retrieved" that bird for him. That was a lesson he won't likely soon forget and one of those little moments that makes a day special. It still makes me smile. I think she turned him into a believer for sure! He's definitely got the fever. Just like I was at his age (and still am). Never want to quit.

I'm not sure who was more tired... the dads & grandad, the kids, or the dogs.

You shoulda come back out the next day. We jumped just as many birds. We were all wet for sure but there were all around.

TDM,

I have more pictures for you, send me your email address.

Cameron was tired when we got home, but wanted to see where and if he actually hit that bird. When he cleaned the bird there was 1/2 dozen or more holes/shot in the breast. After he had a short nap, he cleaned the shotgun and started asking me about bird dogs. I have you to thank for the thousand questions I fielded Saturday evening. He was really excited about hunting with you and especially Peanut. Thank againfor coming out and if you are ever lacking a partner, I would love to go again.

Walter,
Where have you been hiding? Next year you need to head over with the kids. It was a fun time for all of the kids, young and old. I saw something about you being in a video, does it have anything to do with catching rocks or sleeping in the Glen's cabin?

It sounds like fun was had by all. Congrats to your boy on getting his first bird. That picture is great. I remember checking in at that same spot with my dad back in the.....well never mind that would date me. I still have great memories of the youth hunts my dad took me on out there. I am sure that your son will as well.

Congrats, again.
