Default Rogue/Coquille

I'm headed down to the Coquille at Bandon tomorrow to fish the next couple days and then on down to the Rogue after that. Anyone heard any reports recently on either one of these 2 rivers. Looks like the wind has died down a bit, which will make for a more pleasent trip and hopefully some great fishing.

I have been on both rivers quite a bit in the last two weeks and I would have to say that the Coquille is really starting to pick up and produce some fish, more than 1 a day!
fish the largest plug cuts you can find on the coquille, and even a spinner bait rig w/ herring.. that has been really wroking for us again this year
the rogue is pretty slow right now, (and so is the Coquille) but we have been catching more fish on the Coq. The Coquille will really doesnt pick up until after the Labor weekend.
Let us know how you do.

Thanks TH for the info on the Coquille and Rogue. Hows the bait supply down there? I fished the Nehalem last week and found herring hard to find. At least good quality herring. I was also thinking of doing some bottom fishing Sunday or Monday that is if the bar is flat on the Coquille and there is little or no wind. I have found the bottom fishing exceptional out about 1/4 to 1/2 mile West of the bar.

The bait situation is very bad.. some blue around but hard to come by. .Tony at bandon Port O'Call is the best place to start looking.
We have been seeing so little bait in June, July and Aug. down here that I buy an extra case of vacuum packed ballard purple late in the fall and keep it forzen just for the summer fishery.. It seems to fish OK.. better than fishing plugs or smaller baits in my opinion.
I like to brine my bait as well...
we have also been using the blues w/ spinner rigs this year after having great results last year... the hook up seems to be 50/50.. maybe not good enough, but who knows..
makes me feel good.

Let me know how you do!
