Well the morning started out cold. We got the decoys set up and then retired into our ground blinds to wait for first light. Shivering and waiting. Finally first light arrives along with a single calling out. This guy puts the landing gear down 1/4 of a mile away no circling just strait in. Finally he is doing the wing thing right in front of me 20 yards. hunt captain calls for the shot I raise fire once. I can't believe it miss then he flys to my right which is my weak side I try and catch up but keep firing well behind him not one else fires they are all too busy laughing. Then the lines start coming in one here three there we stop at about 10ish with 13 geese. Go and take lunch and siesta and then it is out for a evening duck hunt in a barley field. It was slow and boring until right at the end of the day. Did have two yong mulies come in to our spread and kick over a few of the goose dekeds they did this on purpose and when we came out to set them back up they looked at us like where did you guys come from and knocked a few more over as they were leaving with that funny little buck hopp they do. Right at the end we get a flock of about 60 to 80 mallards and pintails coming in (Looked like all mallards but after the shooting was over there was at least on pintail in there). I shot three times and knocked four down. My buddy shooting a benelli never having a issue with it had it jam and not fire. Of course knowing the problems I had with mine he immediately blamed it on me. Enjoy the picture it was a great leadin for the upcoiming 2007 season.
This hunt happened in Peace river Alberta in a pea field and barley field
