Glad to hear you took home some salmon, and your daughter made it through in good shape.

I am going to Winchester tomorrow and hope to get into some chinook if they aren't covered with oil from the recent fuel oil spill.

Default Trip report + thanks

Some of you may remember me as the person that sought advice about charters a few weeks ago and what to do for a daughter that gets motion sickness. We've just returned home from Oregon and wanted to say thanks for all of the great help. My daughter ended up using the patch and didn't have any sea sickness but her eyes dilated for about 3 days afterward and she had a hard time focusing. This apparently is a common side effect of the patch so beware.

We went for a 6 hour charter out of Winchester Bay. We were staying in Newport but decided our chances of catching chinook were better down south. The quota for silvers had already been exhausted. We caught several silvers before my daughter caught a small 12 lb chinook. I pulled in a 22 lb chinook. As a long time fly fisherman for trout that seldom go much over a pound I can tell you that landing that chinook was like fighting a whale. It was quite a thrill. All the rest were silvers until abruptly at about 9:30 the bite quit and then nothing for the rest of the time. Anyway, we had a great time and appreciate all of the help from this board.

That's cool that you got into some chinook!! Too bad you didn't get to keep the silvers. Sounds like you released a few, though. Still neat to catch them I bet even if you don't get to keep them.
