Gonna give these hooks a try this springer season. I talked to the guy at the Gami booth for about half an hour at the Sportsman Show and he gave me 2 sets to try out this season! If they work, i'll be switching! I'll keep you all updated on my progress or lack thereof, depending!

This is 1/0 on a K 14. It's basicly the same hook that Keta posted with a loop of 100lb braided line, designed for use with slabspoons for jigging.

Default New Gamakatsu Kwikfish Hooks??

Anyone know where these can be gotten? I've called around, and nobody seems to have them yet.

Also, anyone got size recommendations yet? What size for a k14, k15, etc?

SH.

IMO, I like to run 3/0 trebles on the back, and 3/0 siwash on the belly.

Thanks, drifter. I should have been clearer. I'm looking for the new A510 hooks (I think that's the model number) that were being discussed earlier as alternatives to the traditional trebles or siwash hooks.

Dood at FMS suggested size 1 for K13-K14 and 1/0 for K15-K16. I bought 1/0 owners for my K16's, but have not swapped them out yet.

<EDIT> I thought you were talking trebles. I missed the thread you're talking about.

SH:, I believe the "assist 510" hooks are the ones in the slab spoon area. I'll try to hunt some down for a pic..

Jokester, Are you planning on running just a belly hook or are you putting one on the tail also?

I was going to put one on both the belly and the tail! I usually use siwash hooks for both instead of trebles, so this shouldn't be much different at all.

Mr Hilton, a friend of mine talked to the rep and was told 3/0 for k15 and 2/0 for k14. I think I'll just stick to siwash until you instruct me to do differently

I too talked to Mark Yano at the Gamakatsu table at GI Joes. He recommended putting a 1/0 on K-13's, a 2/0 on K-14's, a 3/0 on K-15's and a 4/0 on K-16's. He said GI Joes should have them in a couple of weeks.

SH, they are right in the same area as the rest of the Gami hooks there at Bobs. If you can't find them just ask someone and they will point them out. I'm gonna try some 3/0's off a 4 bead chain from both eyes and see what happens. Now, If I can just get a takedown to see how they work.

I attended our NW Steelheaders monthly meeting last week and Mark Yanno (Gammi Factory Rep) was there speaking to this subject rgarding the new Gammi Hooks... The following information was given...

K13 - Use size 1/0
K14 - Use size 2/0
K15 - Use size 3/0
K16 - Use size 4/0

He also leaves the split ring & attaches a barrell swivel prior to installing the hooks...

I am California tonight but if there is not a picture of this on this thread by tomorrow night I will post one but I am definately going to give this a try since I have some of these hooks.

I bought some at Bob's a few weeks ago; they were with the saltwater jigs. They were actually designed to go above a jig for bottom fishing, but they work well on a Qwikie. Sorta' funny looking with the barbs on the outside though.
