Electric razor
'Looking for some experience/advice here - - - It's time to either get new cutters for the 'ol Norelco or a new razor. I'm just not happy with the shave I'm getting. No doubt new cutters will help for awhile but they're about half the price of a new razor - - the Norelco works okay otherwise. I'm looking for a consistently good close shave without having to go back to a blade. What do you use and like? What about the Remington micro-screen? Thanks! Don

Re: Eelectric razor
I decided to stick with my Norelco when I went through the same "dilemma" earlier this year. I ended up with the one from Costco mainly due to the coupon they had at the time. The other deciding factor for me was that I could now use it in the shower and just pop the head to rinse! My simple self REALLY likes that!!
I'm not sure if you would experience this or not, but I used a microscreen Braun once in the Corps due to neccessity. My face was used to me using the Norelco and I had you "know what to pay" with my neck. I don't think I have ever gotten that irritated from shaving as then! Just a thought if your skin is even the slightest bit sensitive.

Re: Eelectric razor
The Braun's are really nice. You are looking at 150-200 bones, but well worth it. Myself and a few friends are all happy with them and we all have differant models

Re: Eelectric razor
I was preparing to toss my old Norelco when I decided to shop for new blades. I decided they were too much for the old razer but then I stumbled upon a sharpening device on eBay for $8 with shipping. I figured I would give it a try. It worked like magic! I couldn't believe the nice close shave I got from the old razer.
Do a search on ebay for norelco blade and you should find it.

Re: Eelectric razor
I've tried electrics as recently as last year, and they still can't beat my Mach 3's.

Looking at your avatar, I'm thinking even the Mach 3's aren't helping so much.

He's an actor and his makeup artist is not very talented. That pancake base is a bit much and the gotee looks penciled.

Re: Eelectric razor
I have a Braun. Always used the mach 3... Love that Braun now. So easy to use, cleans itsself. I will never go back to the Mach anything.... not matter how good I thought I might be, I always ended up w/ the nicks and scrapes. Never get em w/ the electric.

Re: Eelectric razor
I would suggest if you haven't already. Just take the rotary blades apart and clean them. Especaily the nub that the blades spin on. It made a huge difference in how mine works.

Actually, I've done that in the not-too-distant past and I'll (of course) do it as I sharpen the blades as well. Don

Ebay is your friend. I pay a bit more than a buck a blade with shipping.

Re: Electric razor
Well, I'll sorta close this out with a report. I did get the sharpener a while back. It was so cheesy-looking I nearly tossed it. But, I gave it a try. I also found that I was mistaken about how recently I had cleaned the razor - - - oops, 'gotta tend to that more often. Well the cleaning and the sharpening worked and I'm getting pretty darned good results. I usually take pretty good care of my equipment - - how come I'm so lazy re the razor??? Thanks to all. If I ever replace this Norelco, I might just think about the Braun - - - man that's a lot of dough for a razor but your recommendations sure come high. Don
