Default Sunday the 12th, buoy 2 for silvers

I have been invited to fish buoy 2 this Sunday in a fairly seaworthy 19 ft. bayliner. Can anyone tell me about the swell and winds predicted for Sunday the 12th and what time the ebb tide would occur so we don't mess with the bar at that time.

I am a little leary seeing the news today about the 45 foot crabber that capsized and two deckhands were lost. Don't know if they were recovered.

I was told to expect ten foot seas and 25 knot winds. Yikes, is that a safe weather pattern to cross the bar and fish bouy 2.

I don't believe in risking my life for a fish, so the more info I have the better. I would appreciate any input.

oh bu oy

You have an outgoing tide in the mid morning which is a negative, but the amount of water is only 3.3 feet, this is good. Pray for a modest swell 2-4 feet and it's fine. If you get out early you might get into them and get back in before 7 AM.

The wind is a very powerful force out there concerning water. 25 knts wind can kick up some nasty swells. Think of a lake with a gentle summer breeze, only a few ripples then think of the same lake when the wind gusts kick up. Rougher and in the case of the ocean you have the other factors, tide, high and low pressure fronts and the whole ball of wax. Air moves from high to low pressure (I think) and since the high is over the coast of washington the low is in southern oregon we have alot of wind moving. On 25 knt winds I would have to ask myself what is cheaper, going to a store and buying a salmon or going to a boat dealer and buying a new boat.

Kinda simplistic but I was at the buoy yesterday in some nasty weather in my 20' fourwinns and there was no way I would have headed to the ocean. I did however see alot of stupid people do stupid things, like the one boat that had some teenagers sitting on the back of the boat fishing with no lifejackets that we could see. This world is dangerous so why help it out.

Good luck and be safe.

Jim

I agree T2F,
The water yesterday was bad and the wind was pretty horrid. I didn't think the wind let up any the time we were out there. If you are going in hopes of getting into fish and getting back by 7:00 A.M, forget about it. Stay in the river and fish some "calmer" water, your family will thank you for it....
