Default Buoy 10 Time Frame

I have a couple of buoy 10 trips planned for August. I have another opportunity to go on September 10. Will the bulk of the coho run be upriver buy then? What about the fall chinook run? I haven't followed the buoy 10 season in the past, so I have no frame of reference Any thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks

Yes on the Chinook and a half yes on the silvers.

If your looking at trends and if last year is any idication, the bulk of the Chinook will be upriver by September 10th. For silvers, lots of silvers will be upriver, still many more coming in during September.

Last year, the Chinook bite just died right before the lower river chinook closure, I think that was August 25th. The fish already traveled through and were upriver. Hard to believe the change was so dramatic. This year with limited chinook so far, things might be different, maybe a week later, who know's.

best of luck,

Gregg

It may be a bit late for chinook but there should be plenty of silver I normally fish it until the 12 or 15 of September except for this year, my sister is getting maried on the 8th so my last day is the 6th.

Chinook do seem to be a little later this year. Maybe a week or two like Hookset said. By September I would definately be fishing upriver if you want to target chinook. We finally caught our first upriver bright of the year yesterday. Last year 3 of us limited out on them on the 4th of August at the same spot. We were still limiting out on fish as far down as the mouth of the Kalama until mid-Sept. About that time the coho entered the Clack and we forgot about chinook. The run is just a little later and not quite as many yet. Gonna be some huge fish this year! Give it a little time as this will be a great run. Coho will be everywhere this year. If you are going to be at Bouy 10 on Sept 10 I'd target them and hope for the odd chinook. Best of luck.

Thanks for the input. I think I'll go ahead and book the trip.
