Does Oregon still have HIP?
I was looking at my license and noticed that i have a waterfowl validation, but nowhere does it say HIP validation. I have my federal stamp also.
Am i legal? did they change things? They didn't ask any of the questions like they did years prior. The day i got my validations they were having serious issues with the new system at Joes. Anyone care to help a brother out?

I got questioned. But it was before the new system on 8/8/07
I also have HIP validation for Migratory Bird, Upland, & Crow.
Steve, I guess your too old to be HIP.

Re: Does Oregon still have HIP?
I got mine 2 weeks ago with the new system they did ask the HIP questions, but your choices are 0-10,or 10+ they don't need actual numbers I guess to know how many birds are harvested, a range is close enough.

You are not legal yet. It is still a requirement.

Re: Does Oregon still have HIP?
A5 Light 12 is correct. There have been some problems with the new computer system and many clerks don't have it figured out yet, but the HIP requirement is still in place. Try to go to a *** location that does a high volume of licensing and you'll get better service.

F/M in Troutdale will process licenses until 10 pm if you're in a bind....
(Not that they are the high volume *** Agent I was talking about)

Re: Does Oregon still have HIP?
There's always the AMPM on the way to Sauvie's. They (at least with the old system) sold licenses, HIP, and Sauvie's parking permits. Seems I always forget the latter.

Re: Does Oregon still have HIP?
What does an out of stater do when the license was sold without the HIP?

Re: Does Oregon still have HIP?
I did the same thing- got my license and then wondered why they didn't ask questions- had to go to a different place and get HIP. Instead of printing me a new license, they gave me another paper with just the HIP info on it so now I have three pieces of paper that make up my license for bird hunting- Oh well. Never trust an agent to sell you what you need- I wasn't paying attention and it was quite a hassle. I am going to keep killing birds until I feel better, now- he he.

Go to another *** and have them do the HIP validation. It's free except for the time it takes. The upland validation etc...costs... but, HIP is free.

My problem was that i was the 3rd person this place had helped on the new system so they weren't quite sure what to do. The guy showed me the instruction book that the ODFW gave them and it didn't look very extensive. Its all good, everyone makes mistakes and we can all learn from them. I went to the same place last night to get my buck tag and they had it figured out.

Re: Does Oregon still have HIP?
I had the same problem Dave had, and also they said I was in the system two times and I had to call Salem to delete one of my hunter ID numbers.
