Default Siouxon Creek fishing?

Got a camping outing coming up, and one of my friends claims that there are trout hiding in this creek.

Can anyone confirm/deny? Also, in this general area (Gifford Pinchot forest area I believe), does anyone know what the odds are of an encounter with bear or cougar for people doing remote camping? I will have my dog with us, though I dont know if that will help or hurt us in terms of overall safety.

Better put...what are some safety precautions regarding cougars, just to be safe?

Thanks!

With a dog...you are completely safe!

Unless .... Bears and Cougers happen to come into camp.

Take lots of guns and take turns on guard...while the others sleep.

Lay out a horse hair lariet around your sleeping bag.... as the snakes will never slide over one ...

Not sure how to keep the bats from biting ...but still working on a solution...

Be sure that everyone in camp is packing a handgun as it is the only practical way to reach around and shoot a cougar off your back!

Dogs will usually help keep cougars away. Especially those cats in remote areas that aren't used to barking. In more residential areas, the cats often get used to dogs and will kill them for food or just because. I think your dog will be helpful, but don't let it get too far away from you or camp.

I personally always carry a handgun with me when out in the woods because of an encounter I had w/ a cougar a few years back. I'm still more worried about other people in the woods rather than any of the wild animals. Too many wierdos.

If you do see a cat, make noise, spread your arms and don't turn your back on it. Above all DO NOT RUN!!! I've camped in the area and have seen cougar sign there, but I don't think you should have any problems. Should be some warning signs at the trailheads going in if there is a problem. Like I said, cats shouldn't be a problem. Summer time seems to bring all the wierdos out of the woodwork. Best of luck on your trip.
