Default Preventing theft role call

Uh oh the garage is open what the Heck???Hey my pressure washer is missing... huh the power edger was just here,my Custom heavy rod with Daiwa Sealine 80H , Berkely Steelheader with Abu Garcia Reel, crap not the Plano tackle box filled with irreplaceable goodies,Chrome mini bike I was gonna give the kids now their old enough to ride it,Bosch Jig Saw and Porter Cable Nail Gun. Might be more not sure yet.

Broad daylight 3ish to 5 all the nice neighbors all gone seems everyone in the block. These lowlife dirty rotten scum had to have gotten a truckful out of my garage that wasn't locked while I was on a lumber run to finnish the deck posts&rails.

Insurance will cover it but now a fence goes up to the end of the driveway so the 130lb Rott can get more room.Just venting here. I am really mad at myself for 1)not locking the garage 2)having the dog isolatedfenced yard in the back, not in front of the garage
3)feeling secure in my "nice neighborhood"4) going to the lumber yard in Vancouver because they have more selection.

North Precinct Police said it will probably end up in a hawk shop in Vancouver. Most likely not get caught and may have done this type of thing before.

These people dont work some they can spend time stealing other peoples hard earned tools. Creating economic opportunity for themselves a life style most of us disagree with! If they needed help I would have given it, if they needed food I would have fed them. Now I want to hurt them. Lesson learned here no more Mr. Nice Guy trusting everything gets cable bolted to the floor, locked maybe twice and the oversized unfriendly dog gets to watch the world in front of the grarage.

I have heard others here on the board that have had losses over the years at their homes on their boats in their rigs. These lowlife will not change. Goiong to jail is not a deterent. I have changed I want to do more than a blanket party, Louisville security, or the Rott treatment. I suggest we fin clip them. What do you think fingers or hands? (They missed the bolt cutters) Hold me back I am really mad my poles and best tackle box is gone.

I feel very lucky, I have a very bad habit
of going to bed and forgeting to close the
garage door! This has happened to me at least 5 times in the last year. Like you my garage is full of toys. In the morning I
walk out in shock at what I have done, and
say to my self "how can I be so stupid."
As I walk around the garage looking for something missing and feel the eyes of the
everyone on the block on me I smile to my
self and say lucky again how long can this last!
Hope you get lucky too.......

I've done the same thing several times and been lucky. I live in the hood though - I think people in my neighborhood go to yours to steal. I've lived in NE Portland for 5 years, and besides the meth house down the street blowing up a few months ago, we haven't had any crime.

Will-e-fish,

I don't know about you but I'm activating a neighborhood watch program and calling for volunteers to patrol and putting together a calling tree.

No mister nice guy

I've got just the place picked out to return the screwdriver they left in my rig after they broke my windows with it IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY!

Don't take it lying down, get active.

And if ya shoot or kill them remember to drag them into the house before ya call the police.

I am VERY frustrated with the attitude of the law enforcement folks that "helped" out with my ordeal.

I come from the country, the sticks, the hills. I know all about back woods justice.

If ya hear a thief "Squeelin' like a pig" I swear I was in bed asleep and my wife will vouche for me

Man, I shouldn't even get started.

Sorry for your loss.

Everyone should learn a lesson from those of us who have lost our gear to these scum sucking vermin.

Take pictures and record serial numbers. Check your insurance and consider lowering the deductable if you are in an area that is experiencing an increase in crime.

Here are some links if you are interested in starting a neighborhood watch program:

Hope this helps....

Thanks for the replies hookem, Killertraylor, and Mr. Fishermen. I really appreciate this board for the respect, information, and attitudes. Good place to vent. Getting you input has helped and now I am going into action. I am going to attempt all the above plus getting ahold of the neighborhood association to see if there was more activity anywhere close and inform others in the surrounding blocks to beware. I am cabling and bolting some of my other tools down to prevent easy access until I can get the dog in a fence out front of the garage.

Went fishing up to the Lewis River and was really happy to be out but God what a fustrating time dealing with the tackle box loss. Fish are there I got some good bites but no keepers.

Fight crime--shoot first! I too was ripped off last springer season. Had the boat hooked up the night before not more than 20 feet from the bedroom window. They cleaned me out. Fishing poles, tackle boxes etc. Even got into the truck and took the ash tray full of change, camera, binocs. Then broke into the canopy(Gem Top) and stole a lot of my tools( levels, skill saws, cordless screw guns). They were caught a few weeks later(druggies) but never got anything back. Insurance covered the loss but it still cost me the deductable
I would like to catch the b*****ds in the act and educate them Smith and Wesson style.

They broke into my canopy last winter and stole fly rods, fly reels and misc. gear. I live in Oregon City area. They caught the sunofabeeches in Vancouver. I got one of the reels back but nothing else. Ticks me off that they can't do more to these people when they catch them. It was added incentive for me to go get my concealed weapons permit. Being a victim SUCKS!

Apparently it doesn't matter what type of neighborhood you live in

I live in a pretty rural area (homes on acreage all around) with a King County Sheriff's deputy living 100' from my driveway.

Even he says that we all need to stay vigilant. We have a known "drug house" less than a half-mile away and the scumbags living there are ripping folks off in broad daylight as well as waiting until Ben's patrol car is not in his driveway at night.

Gotta chain that 100# dog to the boat trailer at night!

His advice to us:
Make sure you have serial numbers recorded of ALL your tools and possessions that have them, take photos or videos of the rest and keep that recorded info in a safe area locked up. Don't take anything for granted. Druggies are desperate for that next fix and will bust your mailbox, home, car, boat, RV or anything that may contain something they can pass along for a few bucks.

Drag 'em into the house AFTER you shoot!
