Last day of the season and it was my little brothers turn! The story goes; He woke up and started his day off with a call into work complaining of the flu. He met up with my dad and good friend tim. They had a morning hunt all figured out from the night before. My dad had been on a bull the last hours of the evening. Had him all worked up but ran out of daylight. They were in there spot at first light with not a elk to be found. The day was looking pretty grim. They decided to go check out this cut a few miles up hill from where they were. It was still early an hour or so after day break. Soon as they got to the cut they spoted a few elk feeding. One bull and 2 cows. They could hear 2 other elk in the timber sounding off. The plan was to watch the bull in the cut and try to cut him off. The bull grazed in the cut for almost a hour. My brother decided to make his move. He got in a spot about 100 yards from the bull and began cow calling. The bull was interested. every time he called the bull would thrash a tree/shrub or the ground. Jeff kept this up for almost 30 minutes before the bull had enough. He turned and headed right for him. He came within 30 yards broadside. Jeff made a great hit right behind the front shoulder. The bull ran about 100 yards. Was a Perfect in to our great season! We were truely blessed this year with elk, memories, good friends and an amazing time!
